A Message from the Grand Commander

On behalf of our Grand Master, Prince Matthew of Thebes - and all of the long-serving Templars of the Grand Mastery council - a blessed and joyful New Year to all our Templar family!  In this our inaugural newsletter, we can now share with you a number of important developments which have been painstakingly nurtured until the time was ripe.

As the banner of the restored Order has been publicly raised for the first time in 700 years, we find that day after day many Templar souls – men and women who have been haunted by a deep desire to live a meaningful life of divine service in this world crisis – are reaching out to us to receive the regathered spiritual, cultural, and chivalric threads of the full Templar legacy.

We are honored by your presence and look forward to sharing with you the spiritual riches of our Templar heritage, remembering always our ancient motto of 'Non nobis" — Not unto us, O Lord, but to Thy Name be the glory!

Sincerely Yours,
Michael Henry Dunn
Grand Commander, KTS

Raising the Banner: The Return of the Knights Templar

On October 10, 2015 – only three days before the 708th anniversary of the infamous French persecution of the Templar Order in 1307– Templar Grand Commander, Michael Henry Dunn, gave a public presentation on the restoration of the Order at the Beverly Hills Public Library, announcing Application Procedures by which sincere souls may become Templars.

Legitimacy of the Restoration

The Sovereign Magistral Order of the Temple of Solomon has been restored to full authenticity and legitimacy of magistral succession, doctrinal succession, historical continuity, and sovereignty as a subject of international law, in strict compliance with all of the rules and protocols of customary international law which are presented in this report.

#KnightON — The Essence of Chivalry

Very much like the “lost history” which the Templar Order brings back to the modern world, the principles of Chivalry and traditional values have also been largely forgotten in the consciousness and culture of modern society, and also need to be restored. Meaningful activities reflecting the values of Chivalry are perhaps the most important and tangible characteristic of the Order.

Chivalry! — why, maiden, she is the nurse of pure and high affection — the stay of the oppressed, the redresser of grievances, the curb of the power of the tyrant — Nobility were but an empty name without her, and liberty finds the best protection in her lance and her sword.
— Walter Scott, Ivanhoe

Interfaith Cooperation and Compassion for Refugees

As a chivalric institution, the Order of the Temple of Solomon is generally interfaith and non-denominational, while still preserving and upholding its Ancient Catholic traditions, because that heritage embodies the timeless original foundations underlying all major religions of spirituality. Taking a firm stand opposing discrimination against Muslims, the Templar Order emphatically reaffirms our ancient brotherhood in chivalry with mainstream peaceful Islam.

#DameRIGHT — Women in Membership

With St. Joan of Arc as the prime role model of the Templar virtues of courage in battle and direct communion with Spirit, the Sovereign Magistral Order of the Temple of Solomon welcomes women to full and equal participation at all levels

Human Rights – A Core Mission of Chivalry

As the prime movers behind Magna Carta– the founding document of human rights in western civilization – the Knights Templar have always upheld the defense of the weak against oppression by the strong as a core value of Chivalry.  Today, this mission finds vigorous expression in our support of the Arbitration Court of International Justice, an emerging alternate venue for enforcement of international human rights law, free from the limitations of current international courts.
